Elevate your family time – literally! My latest blog post takes you on our adventure to TOPS Cebu, where breathtaking views meet heartwarming moments. Check out the stunning photos and stories from our family bonding experience at this incredible Cebu City landmark.
Getting There:
- Private Vehicle: The most convenient way is by private car or taxi. You can easily navigate using GPS apps like Google Maps or Waze by searching for “TOPS Lookout Cebu” or “TOPS Cebu.” The drive from the city center takes approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. The road leading up to TOPS is mostly paved but can be winding and steep in some sections, so exercise caution. Parking is available at TOPS, but it can get crowded, especially during peak hours and weekends.
- Motorcycle Taxi (Habal-Habal): For a more adventurous and potentially faster (depending on traffic) option, you can hire a habal-habal. This is a common mode of transport in Cebu, especially for uphill areas. Negotiate the fare beforehand. Be aware that this option might not be the safest or most comfortable for families, especially with young children.
- Public Transportation (Limited): There isn’t a direct public bus route that goes all the way to TOPS. You might be able to take a public jeepney or bus heading towards Busay or a nearby area and then hire a habal-habal for the final ascent. This option is the most budget-friendly but also the most time-consuming and least convenient.
Operating Hours:
- TOPS Cebu is generally open from 12:00 PM (noon) to 11:00 PM daily. However, it’s always a good idea to double-check their official social media pages or online listings for any changes in operating hours, especially during holidays or special events.
Attractions Nearby:
- Mountain View Nature’s Park: Located close to TOPS, this park offers another scenic viewpoint, picnic areas, a restaurant, and some recreational activities like ziplining. It’s a great place to spend more time enjoying the mountain atmosphere.
- Sirao Flower Garden (Little Amsterdam): Famous for its vibrant flower fields, especially the celosia flowers that bloom during certain seasons. It’s a popular spot for taking photos and enjoying the colorful scenery. There are often multiple flower gardens in the Sirao area.
- Temple of Leah: A grand Roman-inspired temple built as a symbol of love. It offers impressive architecture, art pieces, and panoramic views of the city.
- Ayala Heights: A residential area with some viewpoints that offer different perspectives of the city, though these are generally less commercialized than TOPS or Mountain View.
Other Landmarks Nearby:
- Busay: The general mountainous area where TOPS is located. It’s known for its cooler climate and scenic views.
- Cebu Transcentral Highway: The main road that traverses the mountains of Cebu, connecting the city to the western side of the island. The road itself offers some scenic spots along the way.
What to Expect:
- Breathtaking Panoramic Views: The main draw of TOPS Cebu is the stunning 360-degree view of Cebu City, Mactan Island, and the surrounding sea. It’s especially beautiful during sunset and at night when the city lights twinkle.
- Cooler Climate: Being located in the mountains, TOPS generally has a cooler and more refreshing climate compared to the city center. It’s a welcome escape from the heat, especially during the day.
- Relaxing Ambiance: TOPS offers a laid-back and relaxing atmosphere where you can unwind, enjoy the scenery, and spend quality time with family and friends.
- Food and Drinks: There are usually food stalls and small restaurants at TOPS where you can purchase snacks, drinks, and simple meals. Prices might be slightly higher than in the city.
- Photo Opportunities: Everywhere you look is a potential photo opportunity, from the expansive views to the natural surroundings.
- Crowds: TOPS can get quite crowded, especially on weekends, holidays, and during sunset hours. Be prepared for more people during these times.
- Entrance Fee: There is an entrance fee to access TOPS Cebu.
Entrance Fee (as of late 2024/early 2025 – please verify for the most current rates):
- The entrance fee is typically around PHP 100 per person.
- Children below a certain age (usually around 3 years old) might be free.
- It’s always best to check their official sources or recent online reviews for the most up-to-date entrance fee information as it can sometimes change.
